Hi there redditors! I've been gathering information to start investinf in forex. I think the question that crosses my mind the most is how much is needed to start(im starting on college this year) and how stressfull it is? Any tip or advice would be good to.
I am new to forex trading. I have not actually done any trading myself yet. It’s something I would like to get into. I’m just wondering where are the best places for me to get info on how to learn how to do it? or how to go about doing it? What platforms should I be using? Etc?
I’m only 16 and I’m looking into getting into forex trading. I’m completely new to this and I use Reddit on mobile, so I’m a bit lost and can’t find any good guides on here. I was wondering if anyone can help me get started and maybe even recommend me what to use on mobile since that’s where I do most of my work. Thanks to everyone who decides to help me.
New to forex trading (haven’t started yet) but I work in back office ops at a global investment firm. Is there anything I can learn from seeing the daily forex activity?
I see thousands of fx trades daily. I rarely, if ever, speak to the traders or pms throughout the day so I’m not learning anything. Are there things that I can look out for or pay attention to that can benefit my own training and development?
I am new to forex trading and i am currently choosing a broker now. How to know if the broker is genuine?
So like i have stated above that i am currently new to forex and i am finding a broker which is safe. So i have stumbled upon several brokers which is good for micro accounts and apparently they all have negative reviews on how it is a scam. However there is this one broker platform which is XM and it does look quite reliable except with the similar problems on how they have negative reviews. Since people would easily state how anything is a scam i would like to know if there is a way to know how genuine it is.
New to Forex trading, some beginner questions (varied)
Hello! Firstly thanks for this subreddit, I really enjoying browsing it and reading responses to question I would never have thought of myself. I'm currently on a demo account at FXCM doing some training and I have read the guide at babypips.com (which was great, found it recommended on this subreddit). I do however have a few questions of my own and I apologise they are probably very newbish. These questions are quite varied, so even if you can only answer one or two I would be so grateful.
Do I understand correctly that for a trade to be profitable I need to make back the spread to break even and then above that is profit.
Further to that, is it better to initiate a trade when the spread is high, so you can cash out when the spread is lower? Or that's not worth worrying about and just focus on the buy and sell rate?
Why does the spread change so much?
On the FXCM client, it says "AUD/Point" is this pip value?
what does "IOC" and "FOK" mean?
What is trailing?
Where do you source your news from? Do you use an RSS aggregator?
Thoughts on the FXCM platform?
Thoughts on trading on currency pairs that aren't your default currency (eg: I'm AUD and thinking of trading on EUUSD?
Under the P/L part, does that include the spread?
What number is the P/L based on? For example, I put atest order up for 1000 AUD/USD and it says gross P/L of 1.81. Does that mean Ive made a profit of $1.81 if I sell right now?

I’m somewhat new to forex trading. I got into it when Covid broke out. Right now I trade with practice money and look at the charts through trading view as well as watching wicks don’t lie every day I can. I’ve been hearing about people putting their trades in a journal to learn from them. Does anyone know of any platforms/websites I can use to do this?
Hello, I am entirely new to Forex trading and up to this very moment I have not made a single Forex trade. However, it has piqued my interest lately and I decided to spend some spare time writing some high frequency FIX over SSL code. I was hoping you guys could help me with a couple of questions I have. Forgive me if these questions sound entirely dumb. If they are more suitable on a different subreddit please let me know. 1) Can I get a couple of resources (web-links/URLs) for historical currency pair data? What is the the best temporal granularity I can find in historical data? Seconds/milliseconds/nanoseconds? 2) Can I get recommendations for brokers that offer FIX trading? I found a somewhat popular platform with a $5000 minimum deposit but they do not permit registrations for US residents. Is this common? Any idea why? In addition, I came across a couple of VPS providers offering low latency connections to brokers often in the single digit milliseconds latency range. Are these guys legit? Anyone have any experience here? 3) In a low latency trading scenario, what is the typical duration for order execution? By this I mean the time period between placing a market order (FIX Tag 35=D) and getting a successful execution report(FIX Tag 35=8)? If this is a variable time period can you list the contributing factors? I have encountered some verbiage on broker sites warning that their demo accounts could offer more expedited order execution than real market accounts which might also have slippage(what is this?). I was hoping I could get actual numbers of typical expectations in a real market scenario under a variety of dependent conditions. Any answers I get would be every helpful and highly appreciated. Thanks!
